Quality TV Shows or Movies You Recommend

Had double hernia surgery yesterday and with the Thanksgiving holiday next week I'm essentially out a week and a half with a lot of time on my hands.

There's a few things I have never got around to like Deadwood and Luther but was wondering what shows or movies you consider epics that everyone shouldn't miss. Maybe I missed something altogether worth viewing. Even list the obvious ones like Breaking Bad if that's at the top of your list (I may even watch it all over again).

Just looking for ideas and you guys generally come up with good ones or worth consideration.

Well B, I know you watch Game of Thrones, but that is what I just binged and it was incredible.  I'm pretty sure you watched Mad Men, which was an amazing show.  I have never watched The Wire, but have heard it is the best series ever that no one has ever watched.  I have also heard on here that Downtown Abbey is great but have never watched it.  One show I want to get to is the newer (ten years old or so) Battle Star Galactica, which I watched the first season of and really liked, but never got back to it.

My wife and I have been watching The Killing recently.  I tried to watch this show on my own probably 5 years ago and didn't get into it but we are on season 3 now and I am really enjoying it.  Kind of like a Seattle version of Broadchurch

The Seattle version (actually takes place in No CA) of Broadchurch is Gracepoint.

i think i'll do deadwood and luther now since they are easy get throughs being only three seasons each (i believe).

i was late to the party with game of thrones because of the sci-fi angle, is it more befitting of something like that where it's a solid drama/chess match that just happens to be in a medieval/ fantasy setting?

good call mt, i've been wanting to watch bosch. don't think i have amazon password anymore, but can get one.

recently tried to rematch the wire, picture and camera work don't really hold up too well. epic show for sure, but looked old and grainy like when i tried to watch the shield and oz

I think they just put out blu ray versions. I have the set on DVD, but I haven't tried watching it on the 4k tv.

Master of None is a solid choice, almost forgot about it too. I think anyone in their early 30's will identify with it on some level.

thought you might like it cuz of the music angle.

been trying to find shows that aren't dramas so I can just throw on without having to think too much. That's why I liked Rake ( Not the Greg Kinnear US version!)

yeah, others have mentioned it to me to because of the music aspect. i got really jaded playing and being deep into it with regards to agencies, record deal talks, etc.

i watched bits and pieces (namely some hot chick naked), but loathe the music industry after experiencing it first hand.

good point.

i think the one we tried to watch was the hobo go one, but can't remember if those are the remastered versions. it reminded me of the old standard dads i watched it on originally.

remastered versions would be great.

So many amazing shows people have listed.

The ones that others have mentioned that I ended up binging are Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Battlestar Galactica, Deadwood, The Fall

I'd add The West Wing, and the last 3 seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, only if you could stomach the first few seasons, though. I pushed through those because somebody told me the last 3 were so good, and they were right.

I'd also add Rome on HBO. It's only 2 seasons, but it's a pretty fun show with amazing performances.

i've been wanting to watch the west wing after watching house of cards, but isn't the show ridiculously long season wise? are they 30 minute or hour long episodes?
