So much pessimism. Richards' ligament showed considerably more recovery in a shorter amount of time. This procedure worked for Tanaka, it may work for Richards, especially if he isn't pitching until Spring Training.

This was probably expected by all parties but you really have to give it a chance since surgery was going to wipe out this season and next regardless. 

Nobody in their right mind wants to go under the knife if there is a plan B. In this case it didn't work out but it is not really going to affect his return to service.

If Richards doesn't pick up a baseball until Spring Training that seems very very risky.

So the promising 25-year-old will be a rehabbing 27-year-old when he gets his next live MLB action. What shape will his fastball be in by then?

but then in 2019 its announced he has to have another surgery to remove infected tissue (like Morales) & has to miss another whole year.

Who's the most injury prone pitcher of all time, Mark Mulder ?  Josh Johnson was pretty bad too.

Either way I expect both of them will eventually end up on Oakland & each go 22-5 with 2.75 ERAs & 185Ks for the Athletics.

most TJ surgery patients recover and are back pitching much faster the Skaggs. I wouldn't use Tyler's case as a measuring stick for predicting recovery times.

It's ironic, because his arm motion was so easy and his delivery so smooth. What the hell is going on with these pitchers and their elbows?!
