  1. A couple of generations before just about all the pitchers used Byrd’s pump handle wind-up.
  2. Japanese import pitchers like Dice K, Tanaka, and I believe Yu Darvish had arm problems so the extra innings pitched might have contributed.
  3. The Angels have to address 2b at least, whether they get Stanton or not.
  4. Has anyone said that Albert is going to be strictly a DH from here on out?
  5. I think the Angels have the right hire in Eppler and his recommendations will give us the best possible team.
  6. I’m tickled pink that Upton is in place to fix LF for the foreseeable future. I have been reading on Twitter the past couple of days that the Angels are interested in Ian Kinsler at 2B. Haven’t read anything about 3B plans they might have. Of course Kinsler is over 35 so he’s just a temporary solution.
  7. I used that board 15 years and there were definitely a few people who had an agenda, even if it was just their own sense of self-importance. My only regret about it’s closing is that a few didn’t find their way here.
  8. Kinda depends on what he does. The Yankee teams of the 70’s traded for impact players who could contribute right away and won pennants in 76,81, and World Series in 77 and 78. I hope Eppler doesn’t go too far because I want balance and fan appeal but this approach has been taken before.
  9. I’ll say it has been a productive preaseason so far for the Angels. Upton alone fills a big hole in the outfield. Then previously they get a gold glove shortstop and a gold glove catcher. Maybe this is the latest trend to take on contracts at the end of the year. I’d still like to see the Angels make up their minds on Cron or Cowart, or move on.
  10. I was just looking at the existing teams for now. It’s hard for me to see Portland added because their market has to be one of the smaller ones compared to some others.
  11. Astro fans wonder the same thing. They didn’t want to leave the NL. They also have a Dodger-type TV deal where more than half the hometown fans can’t get their games. They need to put the Astros and Rangers in the Central.
  12. I would like to see 4 8-team divisions, with an intradivision schedule. The Angels, Dodgers, SD, Arizona, SF, Oakland, Seattle, and Colorado would make the Western Division with the existing teams. They play each other 22 times during the regular season in 154-games. Media outlets will be developed with “west coast bias.” Games will begin and end at a reasonable time locally. Rivalries will heat up. The division championships will follow with the two finalists going to the World Series. Everything is over by October 10.
  13. Following up an 108-year-old World Series drought with another championship is something I didn’t think could happen. Plus the Dodgers won 104 games. This year I thought Cleveland would follow suit and end their 69-year-drought. It looks like the Astros are going the way of the Indians if they don’t win two in Houston.
  14. Arte CAN’T pull the plug or else the Angels will forever be the Miami Marlins. Unless Giancarlo Stanton is in tow, then we can’t fail to sign Upton.
  15. Because the results aren’t as good as they used to be.
  16. I think if Pete had any kind of PR skills or common sense he’d be able to get in the HOF, although probably never again work in a baseball capacity. But that’s not happening. He always creates a distraction at HOF time, gambles, cheats on his wife, etc. All Pete cares about is Pete.
  17. Joe G just took himself out of consideration by winning the Indians series. I thought this was going to be Cleveland’s year.
  18. I didn’t have a personal computer until 1998 (do they still make e-Machines?) and broadband until 2002 so I was a Halo fan in exile since 1972. Couldn’t obtain a cap until Reggie Jackson joined the team. My question is, did BubbleA$$ try to start a mutiny with the players to get rid of Collins?
