He's a soon-to-be 29-year old reliever who's never pitched in the majors.  Pretty much the definition of expendable.

also, i thought that escobar played some 2b, which is apparently not really true. so, that would adjust the freese speculation in my nprior posting. i still think, the angels might be looking at him there though, but we'll see. i agree with whomever it was that suggested this was partially designed as leverage in freese negotiations.

Check that. There is cash going from #Nationals to #Angels in Escobar trade. That is mentioned in Nats release but not in Halos release.
