Protect 30k people when their chance of getting injured at a game is .0027 percent?

No tank, they fuggin shouldnt! These dopes need to sit somewhere else or pay attention to the game!

I'm constantly amazed at the things people get this angry over. I mean, even if you disagree with the decision, is it that big a deal?

They should remove all netting at hockey games and golf courses. They should lower all of the fences at bullfights. The voters said no to condoms for porn stars so who needs protection from a 108 MPH baseball. It's unAmerican.

And then there's the California plastic bag ban at markets....another example of punishing all for the actions of not that many who litter them.    I never have had trouble either recycling them or keeping them, and not littering them.   Just another Nanny State thing, and just another way to take our money.

Fricken amazing that there is an entire generation of people still alive who did not ride in car seats, wear seat belts, played in unstructured and unsupervised athletic competitions, wear helmets, and understand that receiving a trophy or ribbon is not the same as actual winning.

As kids we would sneak down to those areas for the foul ball opportunities; safety be damned....but then again we were not narcissists living in a virtual world full of meaningless electronic interactions.

I am finished yelling at the cloud now and feel better.  Thanks everyone.

Things change. Everybody uses a maple bat now. They all go to the gym and even the smallest guys are looking to turn on an inside pitch and jack one. With balls regularly leaving the bat at over 100 mph and bats flying as well, it would be a pretty impressive statistical anomaly if there wasn't a fatal incident. The only question we can have is who would ultimately be responsible. I'd prefer that everyone be responsible for his own safety but I know I'm in the minority on that. At some point the league is going to deem it too dangerous and force the nets into use.

It's impossible to avoid an injury.  You can pay attention but if your view is slightly blocked by the person next to you or they move to get out of the way, you're screwed.  Why is it only death we are trying to avoid?  I'm guessing a face full of broken teeth is below average and painful.

Hockey is much different.  Game is faster and more fans are vulnerable

I usually just watch the game instead of sending selfies and playing on social media all night. So, I can save myself if said baseball comes traveling at my coconut at 110+mph..... Just sayin~

I'm sure most fans can protect themselves from most situations in those seats but no one person has full control over his sight lines or the reactions of those around him. Partially obstructed vision or a slight deflection off the fan next to you can happen. And I doubt teams are willing to give all their fans in those expensive seats a pregame reflex test. It's just a matter of how long they're willing to risk the inevitable happening at their field. Do they have to wait until someone gets a maple bat shard stuck in their neck before they decide to throw up a few dollars worth of netting?

Hockey is much more exciting to watch than baseball. Baseball has continually pusified itself. What Odor did to Bautista last season would've only resulted in a 2 minute penalty. No harm done.
