I'm more afraid of getting trampled near an escalator because some people are too stupid to not continue walking after they get off.... than I am of getting killed by a foul ball.

people are complete morons when using escalators or elevators in public places.

This is so gawddamn stupid. Why don't they just put nets around the entire stadium?

Home run balls have a possibility of hitting someone in the head in the right field pavilion. Foul balls have a potential of hitting someone getting hit in the head in section 413.

It's a risk you take when deciding to go to the game. For over 100 years, it's always been that way! A couple of stories pop up, and suddenly it becomes an epidemic.

If fans pay attention they have nothing to worry about?

By the way, it's this kind of bullsh*t mentality that continues to protect 1 idiot and ruin it for the other 30K fans attending the game.

Assuming this isn't some elaborate work of satire, the answer is because pop up foul balls and fly ball home runs spend a much greater time flying through the air before landing in the crowd. Presumably even a partially distracted fan would have time to locate it or protect themselves. Nets are meant to protect areas where a line drive or loose bat gives even the most adept and able fan limited time to react. Edited by Jobu

So they shouldn't try to protect as many people as possible, even just one person?

I see you're all out of compassion.

This. And stop bringing stupid beach balls, it's a baseball stadium not the beach. And stop the retarded wave and the stupid light wave..

you know what i've got a much bigger problem with? fans sitting quietly on their hands, like they're waiting for it to be over.
