Mark Teixeira wants to return to Anaheim

This would actually be a great pickup, assuming we can avoid most of his salary.

Our pitching is not going to be great next year, no matter what we do, but we can focus on bringing in some good defensive players in the off season to help mask that. If I were GM one of my main goals would be getting plus defensive players at every position. It helps that our worst defensive spots have been 2nd and 3rd. One major obstacle though is that Albert Pujols can't stay on the field anymore. He finished the season DHing. As much as I would like to give Albert the chance to DH every day, CJ Cron is absolutely one of the worst defensive players I have ever seen. The dude can hit enough to be an adequate DH but we really could use a guy who can actually defend at first base to spell Albert.

So I love the idea of bringing back Teixeira.

Those are inflated Yankee Stadium numbers.

Might as well be Confederate currency

They really arent....     His splits last year were crazy similar....  .905 OPS home, .906 away...   He's actually been better away in 2012, 14, and 15.   He only played in 15 games in 2013.  For whatever reasons, that park hasn't been a boost for him.

We have almost no club controlled offense.  So the plan is to acquire Tex, put him at first, Albert at DH and then trade cron?  What about next year?

If we can somehow get a solid club controlled LFer in exchange for Santiago and Cron, then maybe.

If anything, I'd probably keep Cron and then our bench depth is much better.

It's tough because he's just so douchey.

Pretty easy to just peep on Baseball Refernce and see that his numbers were better on the road last year (albeit by .001 point), if they were willing to throw in cash for CJ, I'd have to consider it. Have Pujols and Tex rotate at first and DH (the same argument a lot of you are using for signing Davis). Flip Cron or include him in a package to get other pieces. It's not like the salary cap situation changes, basically just flipping CJ for Tex.
