Arte. He considered the Angels a "big market franchise" and has done every thing he thought was best to put the best product on the field. Were some moves failures or misguided? Sure, but I never doubted his commitment.

i think some people are forgetting just how tight disney was with all their nickels. we were all frustrated because they wouldn't cough up any money. a big huge NO THANKS to returning to that mindset.

 

arte needs to trust his baseball people to make decisions. he's been a better owner than disney.

i was at a card club the other night drinking heineken and this young hot hot girl probably 25 sat to play and promptly ordered a bud. i could not believe it. some people are just conditioned. i would never in million years waste my time with a coors or bud. i don't drink much which probably makes it a little tougher to choose one of those. my wife does not drink beer and if we were having a party she used to go to the bud or coors section (its cheaper) i had to almost tackle her.

Arte would be fine if he quit making baseball decisions. He hires people to do that, but he won't let them do their jobs without interference. Granted, since he owns the club that's his privilege, but if he wants to be successful on the field he needs to let his baseball people handle things.

He can refer to Peter Angelos. The O's are much better these past several seasons without adding high priced declining veteran players, after having huge payrolls in the 2000s without much success at all.
