This guy even underperforms at setting unrealistic goals. If you are going to aim for something you have no chance of achieving at least aim for .400/40/200.

 

Anyway, I think his quote reflects a problem with his approach that is partly leading to his sub par performances. He thinks his job is to hit for average, power and drive in runs. You can't do that with the bat on your shoulder looking at pitches. This leads to him being over aggressive and swinging at bad pitches creating outs. I wish he would even use a basic stat like OPS instead of any of the numbers he gave.

I'm not sure about him hitting .300 ... but 30 HR's and 100 RBI's is obtainable for him.

I'd be ok if he got off to a very quick start like .324 / 23 / 65 in the first 100+ games followed by a 50 game suspension. At this point it's worth the risk.

There's so much fun to be had in Josh's split stats. Striking out 64 per cent of the time after falling behind 0-2 and 55 per cent of the time a pitcher got two strikes on him are two of my personal favorites.
