The veteran left-hander is so smart and so competitive that it would be a huge mistake to discount him. If there's gap between the Mariners and Halos, Wilson surely could close the gap.

this plainly implies that the mariners are a better team than the angels. in the statement that if their is a gap, the angels are the ones that need to narrow it. jeez, from what i remember the angels had the best mlb record in the regular season last year. i guess we've really taken a few steps back.

I agree with Troll Daddy. I think CJ can close the gap between the Angels and Mariners. Unfortunately CJ will allow the Mariners to catch up.

If his market has collapsed, kind of makes you wonder why we're not involved, doesn't it? Similiar thing happened in the offseason prior to 2004 with Vlad...Arte stepped up then....Of course, he didn't have Hamilton, Pujols and CJ under contract then either....

I couldn't agree more. I think someone is going to get a great deal on Shields, and I don't think it will be the Angels. Which sucks, because I think he could be worth a few wins.

I think he'll get 4/74 with a team/vesting option for the fifth year at around 20mil where he has the 200ip in the final year or 400ip over the final two with a buyout of 4mil.  16/17/18/19
