CJ Wilson was 17-7 W/L 3.39 ERA in 2013

It's been reported Boston has a lot of concerns about Shields and may only be open to him if he could be had on a 2 year contract. So I don't think they're as big a suitor as people think they are.

He had a bad year by his standards but it happens to most pitchers.

13-10 W/L 4.51 ERA isn't the end of the world.

The veteran left-hander is so smart and so competitive that it would be a huge mistake to discount him. If there's gap between the Mariners and Halos, Wilson surely could close the gap.

Also, I love how smart and competitive he was in the second half last year. He really stepped up his knowledge and competitiveness and led the Angels into the postseason, and then was particularly smart and competitive in his ALDS start.

Agreed. 2015 is a make or break year in terms of assessing CJ's contract. If he goes out and throws 200 innings with a sub 4 ERA I think you have to call the contract a mild success at worst. 

 

I'm surprised he's still here after that humiliating 2014 LDS appearance.

If you guys are thinking that Shields is a huge upgrade ... then so be it. I'm not riding the Wilson train ... just like to see a bigger upgrade than Shields. It's a moot point anyways ... doubtful if the Angels are chasing Shields.
