Skaggs needs Tommy John Surgery

Just saw this on MLB channel -- this is really bad news.

 

Our wobbly rotation situation just got a lot worse.........Not sure what the answer is.

 

Maybe there are no good answers.

 

Rasmus pitched well in a multiple relief appearance last night/ this morning so it looks like he's now a rotation guy for this week any way.

This rotation is in no shape to make a post season run. We could potentially not even make the post season at all with this current rotation

Weaver has been sucking lately...not quite as much as CJ Wilson, but yeah. He hasn't been good since around the middle of June. And if you look at his monthly splits he has an ERA over 4 in every month besides May. Not exactly the Weaver we've been accustomed to seeing.

Wilson

Shoemaker

Santiago

And backing that rotation up is the likes of Wade LeBlanc, Randy Wolf, and Caleb Clay.

Yeeeesh.

I prefer Santiago over Skaggs and Wilson is going nowhere unless he's injured.

Skaggs going down definitely hurts the team depth. Dipoto needs to pick up a solid starter asap. Duh

It's obviously a huge blow to the team now, but it was Skaggs' first full year which was huge for his development and key piece for this franchise moving forward. Richards and Shoemaker are the only starters I trust right now, Weaver is scaring me

Bad news for Skaggs and Halos -- but in times like this (for Skaggs) gotta realize all is not lost -- many a pitcher has come back from TJ surgery to have a successful MLB career post-surgery.

Look at his game log, it hasn't been as bad as you think. Now if you are looking at him to be an Ace then yes it is not good, but he certainly isn't a shitty pitcher that sucks. Wilson, well he has been god awful and deserves your bashing.

Weaver has been an exactly league average pitcher this season. And he's been worse than that of late.

Bigger question is, with the rush of TJ surgeries throughout MLB lately, how long before pitching becomes an extreme commodity?

Moral to the story: don't be a Reagins and trade all of your key pitching prospects away.
