Angels exploring Irvine for new stadium.

Recommended Posts

Irvine would appear to cut off a big portion of the fan base who live in the LA County area. The advantage of Anaheim is how it is centrally located. It's realistic to the attend the game from Long Beach, down to South OC, the 210/57 corridor and most of the IE. Add in the location of the stadium right near a Metrolink stop.

Would be hard to convince me he could find a better centrally located area.

It would be funny if the Angels moved to Irvine.

Then Angels stadium was demolished, and Samulei builds a NHL/NBA arena on the current Angels property with shopping around it.

So Samueli spends $80 billion upgrading the Honda Center and then decides he wants to build a whole new arena across the street a short time later? Seems logical.

Anaheim is the perfect location.  Arte knows this, Anaheim knows this.  They just need to work it out.  It is still the best result for both parties.

Agreed, and I can actually applaud the Anaheim mayor saying hold on, are we giving away huge taxpayer breaks to a professional sports team. But at the same time, the city has proven time and time again they cannot develop that land. Wasn't the original loop holes in the lease agreement in part because they screwed the pooch with the Rams? Anaheim seems to think they have a city paved in gold, rather than just a big empty asphalt parking lot. Award Show Dinner Theater anyone? Without the stadium there, and a tenant, that's just an empty lot hosting a few monster truck and rv shows a year.

This would be cool.  But I mean, how far south could we go and still call ourselves LA? Irvine is closer to San Diego than LA practically.  Shit is just silly.  Go back to California Angels and be done with it.

"The Los Angeles Angels of Irvine in Orange County just up the road from San Diego."

Isn't there a rumor that Anaheim wants to get that property into Disney's hands so they can build another park and hotels?  Seems like they would make more money off of them than they would by making a deal with the Angels.

It's no secret Disney wants to put a water park in Anaheim. It makes sense for them wanting the property Angels Stadium is on. They can make it into an employee parking lot and turn the current employee parking lot and Toy Story parking into another park close to the current ones. They could also use the ARTIC station there to get people to and from the parks.

Screw the Great Park...a new Stadium there would rock.  The park people were promised is just morphing into more houses anyway.  Build a stadium there, its next to the train station, the 5, 405 and 133, and not to mention the Spectrum.  Though I heard some of that land was pegged for a revived Wild Rivers.
