The Rangers are collapsing again

I think we've already gone over how the Rangers can beat really bad teams and are pedestrian against decent ballclubs, thus explaining their record. Thanks for reinforcing the point that they're not going to defeat a decent team and will likely collapse at some point, as per their tendency.

They swept the Cards this year. Have winning records against TB/Boston/Detroit. They have lost to bad teams too much this year

You can make that argument about a lot of teams in the wildcard hunt every season. This season the Indians went 15-2 vs the White Sox. And the Royals went 15-4 vs the Twins. The only reason they are still in it is because of shitty teams. That's usually how it works. The good teams win the division and the okay teams don't. But they both beat up on the bad teams.

 

 

Yup. its pretty common, this year the Rangers were one of those not great teams that faked their way into looking good by taking advantage weak opponents.

Losing records against the Twins and White Sox didn't help. And the timing of their schedule in September has been brutal compared to Cleveland, TB and Oakland. Texas is clearly a more talented team than Cleveland on paper but we all know how much that matters.

No team has made the playoffs once Napoli has been removed from their 40 man roster (Angels, Blue Jays and soon the Rangers).

Counting this year Napoli has been in the postseason 6 out of the last 7 years.

The Rangers now know that they are 1 game back of Cleveland and 2 games in back of TB with 4 games to play.

The Halos taking 2 out of 4 games in Arlington would likely end the Rangers 2013 season.

TB will not lose 4 straight to close the season, and I don't see Cleveland losing 3 out of 4 to a very bad Twins team.

We can do a simple avatar bet.  If the Rangers sweep I have to change my logo to a Rangers logo of some sort for the entire offseason (until the first spring training game).  If the Angels win one game Carl has to switch to an Angels logo for the rest of the year.  Logos subject to approval, of course.  Nothing crude or too small to read.

I would take the bet of texas winning the 1st 3 but if somehow Clev lose 2 of their next 3 games or TB their next 3 games Texas may not use Yu Darvish sunday...

Texas has 5 solid starters so i dont think using 2 of them would cripple their team. If somehow they were to have to play 2 play-in games they could use Perez and Garza and them would have Ogando/Darvish/Holland for the 1st 3 of the ALDS and those 3 are Texas' best starters right now...Garza looked good in his last start and Perez is a ROY contender even though he wont win it...
