The Official Los Angeles Kings Thread for 2013-2014

Minnesota won't back down and continues to stay one point behind the Kings with their own five game winning streak.

With the new playoff format as long as Vancouver continues to flounder and the Kings stay in the 3rd (or higher) seed they really don't care about Minnesota or the other wild card teams. Get ready for a San Jose/Kings rematch in the first round. Probably with the Sharks having home ice.

Pending trade call, sounds like BUF sends Brayden McNabb and two 2nd round picks to LA for two prospects - one of them Hudson Fasching.

Fasching is a lot to give up but sounds like a good deal overall. Especially now with the two picks LA gave Buffalo for the Regehr deal coming back.  Also sounds like a precursor to another deal...

Yup. They got the Edmonton 3rd rounder for scrivens. Plus these 2nd rounders.

I gotta believe they're gonna flip some of those picks

Reaction to acquiring Gaborik for Matt "the Flop" Frattin and two draft picks?

Yes!  Yes!  Yes!

Kings have a deep farm system, plus they got back two draft picks previously lost in making the apparent earlier trade today for McNabb.

Gaborik did miss mid_November through late February, but when healthy he started off October with 5 Gs/5 As/10 pts in 10 games.

They essentially got Robin Rhegar (sp?) For free.

Lombardi delivers. I'm pleased

Time to make a run!

i like both the gaborik deal and the mcnabb deal. i like the trades lombardi makes - we never seem to be on the short end of the stick.

someone mentioned that the last time we made a deal with columbus for a scorer, it worked out pretty darn well. that was 2012.

Have I said that this is the Kings team I know well?

6 straight wins and solid defense/goaltending

It's also very nice of Dustin Brown and Mike Richards to finally start putting the puck in the net again.

Tank is the greatest.   Your next assignment: world peace

six straight wins and an important part of this is that the winning streak continues on the road..........

did the Kings need that Olympic break or what?

remember what the record was in the month before the break?  Wasn't looking good.

looking pretty sweet right now --

and while I'm never one to complain about winning, you might notice that even with SIX straight wins and 12 points added to our season totals -- we really haven't made much of move, in any, in the Western Conference standings.......that tells you what the pre -break swoon did to the Kings.........

4-2 win over the oilers for their 7th win in a row. hitting on all cylinders right now and looking great. tomorrow night they're in calgary against a team that has 8 rookies. hopefully they keep it going strong.

jonathan quick needs one more win to tie rogie vachon for most wins all time for a goalie for the franchise. he also needs 3 more shutouts to tie rogie for most all time for the franchise.
