I can't imagine -4 degrees. Here in Long Beach, the all-time coldest temperature was 25 degrees in January of 1963.

Nice.  I don't think we get quite the extremes as CO but once Dec rolls around it rarely ever gets into the 30s.  We will be in the teens and 20's until Feb.

Heavy snow again this morning in Philly, on top of Sunday's blizzard. On Thursday night it's expected to get down to 11 degrees.

 

I grew up there and remember a Christmas Eve when we got 12 inches of snow.

@Brandon, I drive a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4.  I do not smoke.  This state is conservative religiously but also pretty liberal when it comes to nature, smoking, etc.  They drink a lotta beer though, as would be expected.

 

@FS79.  Most of the people I work with are about 30 minutes outside of Philly.  Said they got about six inches on Sunday and are supposed to get another 6 today.  Even though it looked bad on TV, they say it isn't really that extreme compared to most winters.

I will enjoy a good cigar from time to time but that is the extent of my tobacco use.

Most important purchase was a good pair of slippers.  Hardwood floors can freeze feet through three lairs of wool socks, lol.

Get the thermals with the flap in the back. That way you minimize the body heat loss while taking a dump.

My sister in law used to live in Appleton, WI.  She said it is cold for like 6 months straight.

 

Wife is trying to talk me into moving back to San Diego.  If we have another cold snap it just may happen.

Damn furnace went out last week. Fine timing too since we've had most nights below freezing, all the way down to 25. Can't get it installed until Thursday, so we're cranking our space heaters.

The dog was not happy doing her business tonight.  We even bought her boots and a sweater.  Doesn't help that the snow is almost as tall as she is.  I shoveled away a big area of grass for her but she is dumb.
