To be fair, I really shouldn't be blaming the police.  I highly doubt they signed up for the job so they could threaten arrest to people for handing out food.

I agree however it is less certain to me.  Someone in the city administration or law enforcement has a bug up their ass.  Either way it is a peaceful group doing a humanitarian thing, which has not had any violent or destructive results.

In my experience, not very many homeless folks WANT to be helped... They want to be on the street.  Seriously.  We have Officers dedicated to assisting them, but some love the street-life.  Giving them money, breakfast, dinner, and even showers, without a place to live or serious help to get their lives back on track just does not help.

 

We have a lot of success stories, but mostly they are resigned to living day to day.  You can't really understand it until you've been around them.

While true there is just a political difference from when I was a kid and how businesses are treated or even something like simple good will like the story MT posted. All the fees and regulations that simply hamper free enterprise is not only overboard, but continually getting worse. I don't get why cities, states, and federal political machines try to dominate instances like this.
