Arte needs to extend Minasian then. If he doesn’t then we are just going to end up with another GM who didn’t get to pick his manager or another new manager in a year.

Often a team will hire a relative unknown. A hotshot assistant on a winning team usually becomes a candidate. But obviously experience is lacking. 

So do the Angels grab from the usual pool of retreads and familiar names, or get bold and pick a rookie manager? Whether from a major league team, a farm team, college, foreign league  or anywhere else?  Including promotion from within their own system? 

I would guess they pick a familiar veteran  name most recently from another organization. Seems to be Arte's way. An unknown might signal total rebuild, which goes against his philosophy.

But maybe Perry will have some autonomy. 

I wouldn't expect a decision till after the World Series.

Nevin wasn’t fired, his contract wasn’t renewed.  I was really surprised he was extended last year.  
 

Hopefully they’ll hire someone that can manage young pitchers.  And doesn’t mind a couple of 100 plus losing seasons.
