How can you say that’s “peanuts” when you don’t even know the full deal?

It’s impossible to evaluate the contract without knowing the full deal. Options, opt-outs, incentives, buyouts, etc.

At most he can make 6m per year according to that report. Unless it’s 2 years 18 with a 2m option for years 3 and 4…how could they possibly structure it that doesn’t make that a steal? 1 year 15 with an opt out after 1? That’s not beneficial for the team at all…

That’s poor phrasing and typically used as the cap of a deal. Nobody would arbitrarily say such a specific number…

No thanks to 4 years of Wacha (I know it's laden with options, etc.). He's not worth the hassle. I prefer their swing man idea, or an open competition between Canning, C-Rod, Silseth, Davis,  and Barria.

Wacha's contract feels like deja vu arbitration. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and the effect these contracts have on the MLB post-arb middle class moving forward.

Chafin was rumored to be seeking $9 million for a year, and got just $5.5 million (plus up to $1 million bonus) plus $7.25 million option year ($750k buyout).

What does that mean for Matt Moore?  He better sign soon, otherwise missing out on critical ST time.

In the course of a season, there are likely times when 2 or 3 of your top five starters are unavailable for parts of the season.  Or the entire year.

Did you see the differences in the arbitration submissions?

All three are reasonable. The Renfroe difference is only $650 K - $11.9 vs. $11.25

Don't think arbitration is playing a role.

I think Arte is done regardless.

And historically, that has been Canning & CROD... And our issues with hoping for health in the past.
