Brendon Davis across 27 games at SS in Double-A and Triple-A committed just two errors over 107 total chances. 24-year old athletic SS's with power and speed that play good infield defense don't grow on trees. That's why he's our Minor League Player of the Year.

The Angels either need to put Davis on the 40-man, or trade him as part of a package to bring us back a controllable starting pitcher.  

Again, if we use some combination of Brendon Davis and Rengifo at SS, more assets to spend on starting pitching.

I don’t know much about how to evaluate prospects, but this guy might be the most intriguing in the system. On the one hand he had done nothing to this point in his career and this seems like a Terry Evans-like fluke. On the other hand, he only got better as the season progressed and while not young, he isn’t exactly old either. 

I’d love to hear a scout or talent evaluator’s opinion of him. Is this guy a legit shortstop, or does he have flaws in his game that will be exposed at the big league level?

27 games as a shortstop.  He can play all over the field. He moved up 3 levels this year, and seemed to have got better as he moved up.

Interesting to hear about a guy like this.  Not sure I’ve seen him in any of the prospect hot lists out there for the Angels.  Just checked over on MLB pipeline and he’s not on their Angels top 30.  Kind of a cool thing to keep an eye on next year.

I have never heard that comp. Mickey Mantle is pretty much the only comp i have heard.  I just hope Trout doesn't have the long term leg troubles the mick had.

He's eligible for minor league free agency after the World Series, so the Angels need to either add him to the 40-man roster or re-sign him to a minor league deal before then.
