So...which teams needs a #5 starting pitcher, a shortstop who makes errors and a relief pitcher who only seems to do well in save situations?

This team is a bullpen away from contending.....the Angel bullpen gave the game away without the need for any Giant hitters to make contact. That's the problem.....everything else is background noise.

Let's at least say we are never contending until we get a bullpen.  Our batters didnt do the job for three innings.   NY should not have reversed the call.

However our bullpen is consistent at F'n up our chances.

Anybody that thinks this team is a playoff I have  2 words from my favorite AW member, YOU"RE DELUSIONAL. Get Suarez and Barria in rotation now. Soon after and Detmers plus Chris Rod. Continue to play Walsh, Ward and Rengifo. Start thinking of 2022 and 2023. Drastic measures need to be taken. Is Minasian up for the job? Can Maddon manage a young team? Does Trout want to stay? Is there anyway to get out of Rendon's contract? Should Angels start trading now and beat the rush?

I highly doubt they will trade both Heaney and Cobb.  They will likely resign one of them.

Both are free agents.  Trade them and sign them in the off season.

Unless we are expecting an announcement of an extension soon there is no benefit in keeping them.

This team has a losing mindset and it’s pretty obvious. Watch Joe’s pressers. Every bad game, a starter had good stuff. Hitters that are struggling are making good contact or have good looking foul balls. There’s always an excuse. They don’t have leaders on this team. None. You can talk to me about the quiet laid back personality types of Mike, Rendon, Shohei, and Upton. But there is no drive or expectation to win. There isn’t a winning culture where somebody gets in Stassi’s face and says he was selfish for swinging at ball 4 to win the game. Nobody is pushing Rendon to sprint down the line for once. Nobody tells Ward he has to advance the runner as the lead off guy. Maddon’s job is to BUILD a culture because they haven’t had one in 6 years. Instead he wants a relaxed easy going team that learns to win organically. There’s no accountability on this team. Our staff is awful, bullpen is horrible, but would you even know it if you didn’t watch? There’s no urgency to win and no rhetoric about it coming from the team. When was the last time you heard from Perry? Arte? You build a winning culture by everyone being on board. But the bus isn’t even here yet. It’s awful and they are going to go into 2022, once again, with tons of articles about wasting Trout’s prime—and now Ohtani’s. The failure of management to build this culture is evident every single game. Maddon and Arte are perfectly fine promoting players and selling them, even in 6 run losses. Did you see Ohtani? Wow Griffin in left! Bundy had a good swing! That was seriously the press conference today after the travesty of a baseball game we played. You can talk all you want about staying positive. They have a loser mentality right now and it requires some toughness and accountability to break that. But it won’t happen. So again we punt.

Look, would you just back off on the Detmers talk? Good grief. Did you learn nothing last year from seeing Adell brought up too early?

Pitchers different from young hitters. I remember halos bringing up a 20 year old, he started like 5 games. He got some experience and following year won 14 games as 21 year old. Two years after that won Cy Young. Halos losing 3 starters soon so what a great time to give Detmers some experience. Do not waste that talent at AA. In a few months and next year you will see I was right.

I appreciate your take but holy hell please use paragraphs.

He is convinced that the Angels are going to sell them all off.

All will be free agents Cobb, Bundy, Heaney and Quintana. Why would you sign any of these 4? You have 7 young cheap starters ready to go in 2022. Ohtani, Sandoval, Canning, Barria, Suarez, Detmers and Chris Rod.

Because 7 isn’t nearly enough.
