It's kind of a joke. Perry has been on the losing side of the SCF the last two years; Maroon has been on the winning side the last three years. I don't know what Pat's status with Tampa Bay is. But, I imagine he's coming back. Maybe Perry decided to follow Pat.

Maroon was already signed for next season. He and Perry are probably line mates

Right now, I got nothing though. An avatar that shows the Ducks as the second worst team in the NHL just doesn't have much appeal.

Their GM has made some really Bad mistakes. I would think what he has done in the last couple years will mess them up for the next five. The Sharks should start their rebuild now.

Problem is, I don't know if they can.

Coture, 32 years old, 6 years $8 million per remaining.

Kane 4 years $7 million per remaining.

Karlson 31 YO, 6 years, $11.5 million per remaining.

Burns 36 YO, 4 years, $8 million remaining

Vlasic 34 YO, 5 years, $7 million remaining

That's $41.5 million, over half their team salary.  I think they are stuck going all in for the next 4 years at least, and hope they get lucky.  It might be another decade before they are anywhere close to being relevant again.

Yeah, it's bad. They had to know it would get that way. I'm sure they thought they would get 4 runs before it did. The team just wasn't put together well.

The ownership should be looking at keeping the fans now. Because this is a mess. So, maybe you do still go for it (or, at least look like you are for a couple seasons). Throttle the GM to not add any big contracts (like there's the cap space for that anyhow) past 3 years. Two years of failure from now, you fire him and start over. 

But, I think it's important to start now with a plan to have a rebuilt roster in 5 years and make moves accordingly.

Step 1 would be, don't trade your first and second round picks at the trade deadline, even if you are on the cusp of making the playoffs.  That has seemed to be their MO the last few seasons.

They should offer to trade Karlsson for Eichle. Two stars in a straight up trade.
