I can't see much happening until after the expansion draft when teams have a better idea of their cap situation

But there are teams like the Ducks that need to make a trade pre draft or else the pieces that need to be included are no longer there.  Thanks again BM for putting us in this situation.

They’re only going to lose one player. Are you trying to convince me that there are more than 10 indispensable players on that roster?

The Ducks are in the best position in the expansion draft and will lose a marginal asset or Henrique who is overpaid and declining.

Ducks likely go:

8 skaters and 1 goalie:

Manson/Lindholm/Fowler/Fleury/Rakell/Terry/Lundestrom + 1 of Steel, Jones or Volkov. Fleury showed he's he's bigger asset then one of Jones, Steel or Volkov.

They will likely lose one of Henrique, Steel, Jones, Volkov, Mahura or Stolarz. Larsson has negative value and Guhle sucks.

Steel is the only one I could see having a breakout with Seattle if they were to use him as a Winger and coach him to take more risks offensively instead of that 2way grinder/ face-off specialist that Eakins turned him into.

Looking at other teams fans forums I see that there isn't gonna be too much center options for Seattle that will do much in a top6 role and with RNH re signed by Edmonton it makes it more likely that Seattle has interest in Henrique.

Looks like the Kings understand trading assets before the draft is beneficial.

Kings, Predators Discussing Viktor Arvidsson Trade

Quote

LA Kings@LAKings

🚨TRADE ALERT 🚨 The LA Kings have acquired forward Viktor Arvidsson from the Nashville Predators in exchange for their second-round selection in the 2021 NHL Draft and third-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft. Player Moves flown by @FlyONT ✈️

Pretty good pickup for the Kings.  Also he's owed $4.25 million for the next 3 years.  So he's not a rental either.

I would  protect Henrique over Manson without hesitation. He's a better talent, has more value to the team and will have more trade value going forward.

Manson and Fowler should both be exposed in the draft. Better talent can be had than both for less $.

Henrique will actually be vital to the team if Getzlaf retires/signs with another team.  I've always viewed Henrique as a bad #1 center, which is what we've been using him as the last 2 seasons, marginal #2 center, but overperforming #3 center, which is what he was when we acquired him (Getzlaf/Kesler).  And right now, with Z and Lundestrom taking the #1 and #2 spots, that's where Henrique would fall.  40-50 points from the #3 center goes a long ways to making the offense more acceptable.

Also as you know, I disagree with you on Fowler.  Him and Drysdale have shown to be the only Dmen that can actually skate out of the zone.

Manson needs to be traded ASAP.  All he was was fall down, breakaway for other team.  Fall down, odd man rush for the other team.  Go for a hit and miss, odd man rush for the other team.  Play D, take a penalty because you are too slow.

Yeah, I know. And I don't have as big of a problem with Fowler as it sounds. I don't advocate trading him. It's just the size of his contract and the length. I wouldn't protect him. I think we could replace him in today's market for less $.

If the situation was reversed and we had a logjam at forwards, I would be saying the same about Henrique instead.

Not to mention, when the Seattle draft is over, I would trade Gibson for a good draft return.

I don't think any of these guys will be a big factor in any future playoff runs.
