Pentagon’s first software chief quit because China has already won global tech war

The Pentagon’s former software chief said he quit because China has already won the tech war guaranteeing global dominance — with some US government systems mere “kindergarten level” in comparison.

Nicolas Chaillan, 37, told the Financial Times on Sunday that there is “good reason to be angry” at the US failing to rise to China’s cyber threat, even fearing that it puts his children’s future at risk.

“We have no competing fighting chance against China in 15 to 20 years. Right now, it’s already a done deal; it is already over, in my opinion,” Nicolas Chaillan, 37, told the paper.

Chaillan — who was the Pentagon’s first chief software officer — said China will dominate the future of the world by controlling everything from media narratives to geopolitics.

Friends,

For those who saw this article, I want to clarify one thing. I never said we lost. I said as it stands and if we don't wake up NOW we have no fighting chance to win against China in 15 years. I also said that they're leading in AI and Cyber NOW. Not in 10 years as some BS reports mention.

Of course government funded reports always tell us we have more time than we have so no one is held accountable for missing the already past due target.

Those are just common sense fact. We are competing against 1.5B folks here. Either we are smarter and more agile or we lose. Period.

Looks like the first step in forcing Taiwan back under Chinese control.

Instead of buying everything from China we should be isolating them. They're already having huge real estate issues (worse than ours believe it or not) and advising their citizens to stock up on food for the winter because of agricultural shortfalls. Now is the time to choke them out.

Nope.  People want their Iphones and Apple products too much.

China eyeing military base that's 'setting off alarm bells' at White House: report

China appears to be eyeing its first permanent military base on the shores of Africa's Atlantic coast, and Washington – not keen on the idea – has already started a diplomatic effort to put the kibosh on any plans, a report said.

U.S. officials, citing classified American intelligence reports, told the Wall Street Journal that Beijing could be eyeing Equatorial Guinea’s port city of Bata for the base. The report said Bata already comes with a deep-water port that had been upgraded by China Road & Bridge Co. from 2009 to 2014. The report said U.S. intelligence first learned of the possibility of the base in 2019.
