Cue the hysteria in Boston.

Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts, one of baseball’s brightest young stars, could soon be on his way out of Fenway Park. With just one full year remaining on his deal, Betts is a logical name to include in trade rumors when the offseason arrives.

MLB insider and former general manager Jim Bowden named Betts as the No. 1 big name that could be dealt this winter in a piece for The Athletic.

Here’s where Bowden thinks Betts could land...

... Betts could take the Braves from very good, to a team that could win 100 games and rival the Dodgers for the top team in the National League. For St. Louis, Betts could be the missing piece in the NL Central and National League.

Atlanta definitely has the prospect scratch to do it.  As do the dogs although I doubt they would.

If Betts is a young legit MVP amazing talent, why would Boston trade him?  He is certainly young enough to be a foundational piece in a rebuild.

If Sale was a young legit MVP candidate why would the White Sox Trade him? Same with Harper. The list goes on and on.

Because he already declined an extension and has been clear about wanting to test free agency.

Yep, any team trading for him better be 100% sure they are re-signing him.   Otherwise, could be staring at a Alexander for Smoltz type of trade fiasco.

That could be bad except that the Rangers will have a new ballpark that won't be a heat sink where bunted balls have a chance to get out. Still, I'd rather he go to the NL. The Cardinals sure could use a new marketable name and the Braves would definitely be upgrading. Neither do the Angels face 20 times a season.

Walker Buehler would be a player I'd consider trading Adell for, but it would cost Buehler and more. Betts and 1 year? No. He's gonna be looking at a deal near what Trout got and The Angels just can't afford that.

Epplers timeline of extending Upton is going to backfire because that money would’ve come in handy. Betts is a serious impact player and definitely someone that Trout would endorse.
