It’s just that we always seem to acquire players with hopes that they perform like they used to. The Arizona Justin Upton would’ve been nice. He was a good base stealer and a good defender. Oh well it’s nothing new to us.

That’s basically how it works if you don’t have a farm system and aren’t willing to trade players in their prime for top prospects.

Free agents are, almost by definition, at their peak, about to go downhill. Players you can acquire via trade without giving up top prospects, which the Angels didn’t have, are old, injured or have other flaws.

Everything that’s gone wrong with the Angels comes back to them having a lousy farm system, which had nothing to do with Eppler.

does that mean Jeff is a 'so-called' journalist and works for the 'so-called' OCR which is a 'so-called' news source?

Honestly I only even mentioned Eppler because I forgot what thread I was in.

So called journalist or so called fan?  Jeff I imagine that's a difficult balance and would be a great post here if not appropriate for OCR.

Maybe not, maybe so.  But being around the players and knowing them at !east somewhat as peop!e would make a fan out of most.

I think I’ve answered this before.

I prefer they win because more people read and I get to make all the trips, which means I get more Marriott points and I make platinum on American. But I’m never upset when they lose.

I also prefer for whichever team is winning in the 7th inning to hold on so I don’t have to rewrite my story.
