Mission accomplished.

For now injuries in a twisted way are kind of helping them, but I’m just saying they should just operate like this the rest of the season.  Trout doesn’t need to be playing everyday.  It is what it is.  They don’t need to be playing to win down the stretch.  It is a good thing if they can get a higher draft pick.

A lot of people seem to think this is football and that a top 10 draft pick - as opposed to a 15-20 pick - will make a huge, immediate impact.

That is why I don't understand people's obsession with draft picks and draft order. They are less certain in baseball than in any other sport, and many "can't miss" prospects have. There are also players who other teams have passed on who have turned out to be great (one wears #27 for us).

I don't think the Angels are "tanking."  I think this team is going to tank.  As in:  they suck and they're NOT going to get any better for the remaining two months.  Thus, they will tank, whether by purposeful intent, or by virtue of being a shitty team.

I make light of it, but it will be interesting to track their record in the reverse standings.  It would be good if they landed in the Top (Bottom) Ten.

sigh...

Tanking is trading everyone of value and losing as many games as possible.  It is chicken shit.  If they would have tanked 2-3 years ago when you first asked them to tank, then we would have no Trout, Ohtani or Simmons.  They would have Albert and a bunch of guys in the minor leagues.

Just about everyone one of value on the pitching staff is on the IL. They may not be trying to rank right now but the situation dictacts they will because they have no one to take the ball and dominate. No one.

So your Pollyanna routine isn't going to make the season final outcome any better. Participation trophy aside, this team is screwed and might as well get something of value out of the season. You all want the Angels to trade for better talent, now is the time to get that talent through the draft. Winning a few more games is like trading for a player not as good as the one you gave up. Why would you do that?

My point is tanking is trading away everyone of talent away to make your major league team worse and your prospect pool greater.  Yea, I want to see us trade for mound talent, but I had zero issue they didn’t do anything at the deadline, especially once I saw the cost of those arms.  As for what I want right now is for a team to release a veteran arm, not a difference maker, but just a guy.  I want the Angels to pick up that arm and just have that dude start games because I see no reason to rush people to the majors but we simply need innings pitched at this point.
