I also think @gotbeer and @failos you need to ask yourself:  Do you believe that the crypto market is going to totally collapse?  If yes, then you should sell and get out.  If not, then ask why is it down.  It’s fickle and volatile and it’s because of some shit about Chinese miners?  Maybe.  But those guys are moving to central Asia and South America.  So then maybe this dip doesn’t mean shit and it’s an awesome time to buy low.  I think probably.

But then again, the whole thing could collapse.  Is that likely?  Do you believe in crypto and blockchain technology?  I don’t know.  Maybe.  Or maybe your crypto portfolio will be worth 5x by the end of the year.  Or maybe it will be worth Jack shit.  In the end it’s basically gambling with slightly better odds than the casino.

I definitely believe in crypto and blockchain. I have a deep understanding of the algorithm, so I know it’s legit. I’m just concerned about government interference with regulation (Dems) or outright banning (China).

Totally collapse.  No.  I think there is value in established cryptos like Bitcoin, Etherium, Litecoin, etc.  Actually put most of my funds in those three.  With a heavy emphasis on Etherium, since it's at a good price right now.

But the altcoins I can see totally collapsing.  The Dodge, and all the fly by night Cumstains that are out there.  Those seem to be more profitting off of the established cryptos backs.

Personally, I have 75% in the established three I mentioned above.  Where I will hold long term until that huge spike comes around like it always does every so many years.  In the meantime, I'll put 25% in the high risk coins, mainly Shiba right now.  Because the swings come quicker and I can play the peaks and valleys to build up.

Question.  Any of you have the Ledger Nano S?  https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07FY5R77T/?coliid=I2WVPVUA8DR1ES&colid=CHYDIUS8KQQZ&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I'm on Crypto.com, and they let you withdraw crypto to your private wallets.  I'm thinking of doing that to my long term hold crypto.  One so I don't panic and sell when it craters.  Two so I don't panic and sell when it goes up a bit.  Three if they do start governmenting it, it's much more difficult to do if it's in a private wallet I think.   Four, if the exchange you are on gets hacked, or the owners run away with the crypto.  At least you will have the crypto in your little drive.  Five, that's the most secure way to hold it right?

I have a ledger nano s. It's definitely worth it.

Unfortunately I was apart of their database leak they had like a year ago so all my information got leaked to everyone. Email, address ext...

Luckily I haven't received any texts of people threatening to kill me if I don't give my wallet and seed phrase.... yet.

I actually have all my ethereum on an exchange right now staking, but plan to run my own nodes when the merge is complete.

Might want to look into doing that if you plan to hold for years and want to earn some passive income.

This is what I feel like, about what you said.

Ethereum is switching from Proof of work to proof of stake. With proof of stake, you can earn an apy without having to run any extensive hardware.. When the merge is complete, the apy is expected to be over 10%.

So far I've earned around 6 Eth just from staking on kraken.

Has anyone here ever made significant money by investing (not including 401Ks, etc.)? I know plenty of people who invest, but I've never met anyone who said, "I was able to buy a new car/house/increase my income level through the stock market."

What does “etc” cover? Are you talking day traders or individual stock pickers who get in and/or out of stocks at the right time? I don’t have the desire, drive or risk appetite for individual stocks but I have a taxable account invested in index funds that I contribute to. I can use that for an emergency fund, down payment for a car or if it grows enough a house.  Most average investors who do that use it as a long term play and I doubt they discuss it much.  The topic usually only comes up with friends who invest and for me most of those I’ve met along the way during my career in finance.

Most aren't willing to risk more than their lunch money in individual stocks/crypto. It also depends who you surround yourself with. I'm sure the people in tech who make 200k+ a year are willing to risk more than someone who is living paycheck to paycheck.

Time to buy Doge?  Or stay far away?  It's dropped to 20.77 cents.

I've been playing the Shiba Inu train, buying when it gets below .000008, and trying to sell when it gets above 9.  It seems to fluctuate within that range constantly.  But Doge doesn't seem to want to budge much.
