If I was creating a line up it wouldn’t look to much different than it does right now.  I like Trout batting 2nd.  So here is what I would do now.

Against a right handed pitcher

La Stella

Trout

Ohtani

Simmons

Kole

Lucroy

Goodwin

Walsh

Fletcher

Against a left handed pitcher

Fletcher

Trout

Ohtani

Simmons

Kole

Albert

La Stella

Lucroy

Goodwin

Dude, you forgot Cozart.

He comes in when our pinch hitter, Trevor Cahill, hurts himself mid at bat.

If Cozart is batting against Cahill, what happens? Strike out on a wild pitch where Cozart runs to first, and would have been able to make it if he didn't trip and fall on the way and end up on the DL?

Hadn't thought about the right handed hitter element, as to why Simmons is hitting cleanup and not Calhoun or La Stella. Good point

I just think if you have Ohtani and Kole you are just asking for a team to bring in that tough lefty out of the pen late in the game to face both of them.  La Stella doesn’t strike out so he would be less of a problem.

And Cahill injures his forearm on the delivery to the plate.

I like Cozart as a late inning defensive replacement when we're up by three runs or more.

Other than that, NO.

He’s going to start once or twice a week. If he is the difference between winning and losing then a lot of other people didn’t do their jobs with the bat.

I would put Lucroy over Simmons against both righties and lefties.

Simmons just swings at shit, never strikes out, but seemingly doesn't know a fucking thing about pitch recognition. The guy tomahawk chops every pitch it seems.

He's a good hitter, but he's not a cleanup hitter. Lucroy has a higher slugging pct. than Simmons, more extra base hits and HR's.

This is the part that has been maddening this year. Was he always like this and I somehow didn't notice?

In the 1st inning yesterday, Ohtani walked on 4 pitches (with Trout on second after hitting a double) and then Simmons just hacked away at the fist pitch he saw and popped out. Couldn't even advance the runners. The guy might be the smartest player I have ever seen in the field. How can he be so brain-dead at the plate so much of the time?
