BRUINS AND DUCKS SWAP HEINEN AND RITCHIE IN DEAL THAT COULD PROVIDE SPARK FOR BOTH PLAYERS

Danton Heinen

They list him as a center.  But the article states he's more of a LW.  24 YO, 4th round pick.  First season in the NHL, he had 47 points, but has gone down 34 and 22 the following seasons.  This year an under 50 CF and FF, but the two years prior above 50.  According to his scouting report, he is constantly moving.  So might fit the faster pace game.

Overall, Ritchie just didn't get it.  Really he's a 3/4 line player that usually made a dumb penalty in the worst time.  So this is probably an even scenery trade for both teams.  But I do like the upside of Heinen.  Even the 34 points is more than Ritchie ever scored.  And the CF and FF potential over 50 is also a plus.  But the biggest thing is Ritchie Penalty minutes is 78, 82, 72, and 62.  And those numbers aren't fighter numbers either.  They are just stupid penalty numbers.  Heinen 8, 16, and 16 in penalty minutes.  Heck, our penalty kill just got a huge boost with this trade.

Grant for Kyle Criscuolo and a 4th round pick.

Grant did well for us, and really hope he does well.  But let's face it, he was the 4th line center.

Criscuolo is a 27 year old, listed as a center.  Really no NHL stats, and looks like more of an AHL depth player.

Overall, I did like Grant.  But getting anything for him was probably a necessary move for us retooling.  So a 4th for a 4th liner is probably market value.

The only thing that make sense to me from a Boston perspective e is that they shed the salary difference in a swap of bottom 6 forwards

Yeah.  The articles Ive read are saying they like Ritchie's size, and that Boston plays big so he'll fit right in.  But we all know, he doesn't play big, and usually when he does, he does something stupid and sits in the box for 2 minutes.

Former first round, 16th overall.  23 years old left handed shot.

We'll see what else is involved.  But if straight up, an interesting player to acquire.

Gave up on Sprong. Waste of Petterson.

I like the Shore trade.

Washington Capitals Trade Christian Djoos to Anaheim Ducks

Christian Djoos.    25 YO left handed defenseman from gasp Sweden.  Stats wise, CF and FF is either a 52 or a 48 in his two seasons with long stings.  Little points.  Good +/-.  Can't find much on him.  Nothing really stands out, so I guess we have to rely on scouting on this one.

In Sprong, well, he just couldn't seem to cut it on the Ducks.  And with Pettersson being 2 years younger and getting a $4 mil a season deal on Pitt, so far yeah we lost that trade.

It seems to me that they think they’ll be competitive in a season or so.  And that’s the way they treated this deadline.  I would have liked to see them trade more of the core guys for more of a return.  I have sincere doubts about how close they are to competing but I guess you can’t trade everyone.

im am extremely glad that they are rid of Nick Ritchie.  About as bad a 1st round pick as the Ducks have had in the last decade or more.  Just fucking awful.

anyway, I have no faith in this management group.  And I don’t think I’ll be optimistic about the teams return to good hockey until Bob Murray is gone.

Joel Persson for ECHL goalie Angus Redmond and a conditional 7th round pick.

3 guesses where Joel Persson is from and the first two don't count.  25 YO, RH defenseman from Sweden.  Only played 13 games at the NHL level.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/63003/joel-persson

Interesting Elite prospect write up on him.

https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=208322

Not much to see as far as stats.  But it doesn't look like we gave up much for him.  But a on the cusp RH defensemen is probably something good to have considering our lack of RH defensemen.
