When we study ancient Egypt there's a passage in our book that describes crops the Egyptians grew, and it includes lettuce. I tell my kids it's actually pronounced la-TOOSE. It's led to some fun light-hearted moments, as well as some kids who look like "wait, wut?" For a few minutes. It's fun trying to sell them on the idea that they've been told the wrong pronunciation all these years.

I can’t figure out why tank thought it was ok to eat 4 month old lettuce but for some deadly bacteria.
