Why is the Astros staff so healthy?

Verlander is a freak of nature. Modern day Nolan Ryan. McCullers just got hurt. Morton is an amazing story. Cole is just having a breakout year

dont know

combo of more durable arms and luck I’d imagine

Verlander is in that same category with Ryan, Steve Carlton, Fergie Jenkins, Tom Seaver, and Greg Maddux.   All pitching seemingly forever, and seldom being DL'd

The same five Astros' starters have made all of the team's starts so far.

Why?

Top of the line team trainers/conditioning staff?    Pitchers themselves are durable (especially Verlander)?    Pine tar making it less stressful to put spin on pitches?    A fluke thing?

Well, consider this.  Last year their top IP total from a SP was 153 innings....   He was the only guy to throw at least 150.     The year before that it was 184 innings -- one of only two guys to have to reach 180 innings.    Makes this year seem like the outlier.

Woah, I never heard about that. The Cards didn't have a pick until the 4th round this year because they signed Dexter Fowler and decided to go all Anonymous on the Astros.

Does anyone remember how they looked last year? Imo a sample of one year doesn't mean that much, but if you start stretching it back a year or two and comparing us to just about any team (except MAYBE the Mets), it seems like you would see the same sort of thing. That seems like it might mean something.

Weird how as soon as these guys coming off down years due to age, history or talent all of a sudden have career years as soon as they join the Astros pitching staff.

Either they know something the rest of baseball doesn't, or they are using something the rest of baseball isn't.
