John was our website's first writer from 2004-2006 before @Adam took over as our senior writer.

Great guy who eventually went on to write and produce movies in Hollywood.

Some of you remember that we were both featured on ESPN, KNX 1070 radio and the LA Times, OC Register, Washington Post, AP News for our different stances on the name change.

John was so against Los Angeles being part of the name and frustrated with Arte that he ended up losing interest in the Angels after being a lifelong fan and ended up becoming a big Padres fan sometime in 2006.

But he was so upset about a name change that he switched teams?? How'd that work out for him? Did he also get very upset when they changed from the California Angels?

Let's not derail the importance of this thread with name change banter.

We've covered that a million times on here over the years.

I know a handful of fans that walked away from the Angels or lost interest after the change. Not I or the majority of us here, but some people just despise what the city of LA means so much that they didn't want their team to be associated with that city.

Move on...

If y'all didn't want anyone to talk about it, why even mention it?

Anyways, you're right, not the time. Glad his health situation is improving.

Just for some background.

It's like having prime Howie Kendrick and then getting Johnny Giavotella. :D
