Mike Scioscia just shot himself in the foot

Recommended Posts

He’s an adjunct professor of computer science AND an expert on Japanese Baseball Culture.  This is all starting to make sense.

How many times does one have to watch Mr. Baseball to officially become certified as a Japanese Baseball Expert ? My guess is absolutely no less then 825 Mr. Baseball viewings.  Obviously an intense devotion to Tom Sellick is also required.

Dave Roberts just shot himself in the foot. I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese baseball culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an a******. If you screw someone over in Japan by shitty managing, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance. What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to support the Dodgers, nor will they watch any games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Dave Roberts has alienated an entire market with this move. Dave Roberts, publicly apologize and resign or you can kiss Kershaw and Maeda goodbye.

It's okay though -- cause he's actually Japanese.    Dude has all kinds of stuff he can get away with.    Also -- well played sir.

computer science

my first college class was a computer science class

the professor gave a lecture 3 hours a week with powerpoint, and everybody in the class took meticulous notes on the powerpoint

the entire grade for the class was based on multiple choice exams

the first exam came along, and every question was from the textbook readings we were assigned, which had NOTHING to do with his lectures

everybody failed the first exam

i stopped showing up for class, just read the book and showed up on exam days, and ended up with the highest score in the class

please tell me you're like this

That must be one of those CS classes for liberal arts majors.

I teach a grad iOS development course-- no textbook or paper exams, just projects.
