This issue alone will get Mike Sciosca fired. Teams throughout the league know as long as Trout bats in the 2 hole you can either pitch around him or let him hit the solo hr. Sciosca has embarrassingly paraded one bad lead off hitter after another in front of Mike. Trout should be batting 3rd his entire career. Simmons should be lead off, maybe Fletcher bat 2nd. Upton should be clean up and there is no way Albert should EVER be allowed to bat clean up. These stupid acts will be the downfall of Mike S. Now instead of .212 Kinsler, he puts .162 Calhoun to lead off. Brilliant.  Priceless. And the tragedy of of this is we're going to lose another Mike.

Ok, so lets say simmons bats in front of trout. And in a perfect world, he gets on base every time and trout homers every time (instead of a solo shot). Then what?

The reality is simple. Trout upton and simmons are the only dependable bats in the lineup this year...which is about the same as its been since 2015. Blaming scioscia for that is stupid.

Im not against simmons batting in front of trout, but it wont change a whole lot. Its the lack of depth in the lineup, not whos hitting in front of trout.

I agree with Trout batting third but it’s Eppler who wants him batting second. Scioscia may pencil the lineup but Eppler is the author ... when will you jokers get that!

Fletcher should leadoff.

Yes, let's put a rookie with what? Ten games under his belt and out pressure of top of the order on him? How about we see if he us a legit mlb hitter instead of a guy who is just lucky with a small sample size.

I like the idea of Simmons leading off.  Keep Fletcher at 9 hole.  He is still batting close to Trout so Trout will benefit from his OBS and he is in a low pressure batting position.

However I do not know if there is validity of Simmons not wanting to bat on top of order.

Calhoun has had success leading off, however that was couple of years ago.

I've been hesitant to moving Simmons as I didn't want him to risk stunting the offensive progress he had made with the additional pressure of leading off. That said, he's sustained this new offensive level long enough now where it'd make sense to experiment with it on a season like this, where the results won't matter much and provide a long enough stretch to determine how he'd do. If he can grow into a leadoff hitter it'd be huge, but I don't want to force it, like what happened with Aybar.

Fletcher is the perfect #9 hitter btw.
