2018 has a 1982 feel to it????

Much like 1982, this team has some good power potential with Kinsler, Calhoun, Trout, Upton, Pujols, Cozart, Ohtani/Cron/Valbuena, and even Simmons and Machete.

Much like 1982, this team has pretty much airtight defense.

Much like 1982, the starting pitching is a question mark going into the season.

The key could be the bullpen.   It was meh in 1982, no real season long consistency from anyone outside of Andy Hassler.   If Eppler can get another late innings solid guy, and Jim Johnson can rediscover his pre-2017 stuff, Bedrock doesn't regress to Badrock like in 2017, and Parker repeats 2017 success, that's a rock solid late innings group.   Lots of ifs though

1982 was a lot of fun, until ALCS games 3-5.   And they were coming off of a sub .500 season in 1981, just as this team is coming off of in 2017.

The excitement surrounding this offseason also reminds me of the months leading up to the 1082 season. The Angels had managed to barter their way to obtain Shibolet Oxtani, the South American nemesis who could simultaneously hit, pitch, and skin a goat. They negotiated with his former team and ended up sending over a package that included 13 royal-blooded virgins and $1.7M worth of gold to obtain him. It was also potentially the last year for Mikkus Soshales, who had served as Head Chief of the team for five decades, and annoyed fans with the same response after every loss: "Turn the stone."
