Batters striking out these days is nothing new. The strikeout rates has gone up for batters for quite some time now. Striking out 200 or more times in a season these days is nothing new. Guys are going away from the days where basically everybody just wants to put the bat on the ball and not try to hit home runs every single time up, like Valbuena.

After today's game, Stanton has struck out 20 times out of 42 at bats and 17 times in the last 7 games.  He's probably helping create that RF wind tunnel with all those whiffs.

Stanton being on pace (!) to K 324 times this year notwithstanding, a player striking out 200 times in a season has occurred 4 times since 2014. Chris Davis twice, Chris Carter and Aaron Judge once each.

Please don't start sounding like a Yankees fan making excuses for the guy.
