Actually he started on 3-days rest on 10/7/13 vs Braves in game 4 the NLDS after starting game 1 on 10/3.  You're right about him not pitching until game 5 though .  I must've misunderstood something I heard earlier about shortening their rotation to maximize his availability.

Christy Mathewson pitched three complete game shutouts in six days in the 1905 World Series.

That's crazy, of course, but until recent years ace pitchers would be slated for Games 1, 4, and 7 in the Series, and for many decades pitchers would routinely take to the mound on three days' rest.

Next two games will be very interesting.    Astros will have the solid in 2017 Peacock as well as McHugh to back up McCullers and Morton.

Darvish has usually been dominant in Minute Maid Park, but McCullers' breaking pitches are a pain for MLB hitters.   Tonight could well be low scoring, although the Astros did seem to find their hitting groove in the 8th inning Wednesday in scoring 6 runs in the 8th-11th innings after scoring just 2 runs in the first 16 innings.

Game 4 's Wood vs Morton matchup is where anything could happen.

Morton seems to be a better pitcher at home, we shall see.

To me, game four is always the pivotal game that determines the probable direction of the Series. The series is either over (4-0), virtually over (3-1) or its a dog fight. Only five teams have come back from 3-1 in the history of the WS. The most recent were the Cubs last year and the Royals in 85.

Is Reddick really all they have for RF? The guy really seems like the weakest link at this point. It's like Maddon staying with Zobrist, a guy who really pretty much sucked at the plate all year, in every playoff game.

Freaking Scioscia-like managerial behavior.

He had a pretty good year this year hitting 315 with 15 home runs or something. He bats lefty and is also getting paid pretty nicely. Their alternatives are Maybin or Beltran I suppose. Hinch would prob get all kinds of shit if he sat Reddick for either of those guys lol.
