Good news! Scioscia will be back for the final year of his contract

Mike Scioscia plans on returning to manage the Angels in 2018, which is the last year of his contract.

Scioscia signed a record 10-year deal for a manager before the 2009 season. He's managed the Angels for 18 years now, going 1,570-1,346. His team has been to the postseason just once in the last eight years, losing 3-0 in the ALDS in 2004. Still, this year's group was in contention until the final week, finishing a respectable 80-82 despite myriad pitching injuries and losing Mike Trout for a chunk of the season.

The headline got me excited because I thought it also meant he was going to retire when his contract was up. Correct heading should end "the last year of his contract" not "for his final year with the Halos"

Fixed...

What I'm most afraid of is this...

Eppler improves the team mightily and we sneak into the playoffs, then Arte rewards him with a contract extension.

I'd love some new, fresh blood like a Maddon type running the ship for the final two years of Trout's contract with the club.

So who you thinking?

To be fair, Sosh didn't do too bad of a job this year. With all the injuries to the important guys and many of the players underperforming, the Angels winning 80 games was an accomplishment to me. He did a good job but there were some decisions that he made that kept it from being great. Blame the GM before you blame the manager.

Scioscia will finish out this contract and if he decides he wants to continue managing he will move on to another team. Eppler will pick his own manager when all is said and done for 2019.

What if wins 90 games and makes the playoffs?....just for the sake of argument....

You're getting stale and predictable. The subtle troll posts are fewer these days. Maybe you need a break to refresh yourself?

I'm on board with whatever Eppler decides ... even if it means a two year extension for Sosh. I believe the Trout factor might come into play.
