Say, Jason Vargas goes 20-5 with an ERA below 3.00, would you want the Angels to sign him to a good size deal?

I don't know what has gotten into this guy (steroids? JK, probably not or maybe, fluke)  but so far, he looks like the 2nd coming of Sandy Koufax. In 3 starts so far, he's 3-0 with a 0.44 ERA and 0.77 WHIP. Lets say he puts up the numbers that I posted in the "Title" and the Angels are looking for another starter (which, most likely, they will this offseason), would you want the Angels to sign Vargas to a big deal? Or are you worry that Vargas' a one year wonder and will pitching like a mediocre pitcher again?

He's back from Tommy John Surgery so he's experiencing a renewal. He always had one of the best changeups in the game but the current streak he's on is exceptional without a doubt.

One interesting note is that he seems, according to FanGraphs, to have incorporated a knuckle curve that has served him well so far. Adding a 4th pitch, combined with a new ligament is making him great right now particularly against RHH's. He appears, in the limited sample size, to have done better against LHH's than he should have but he'll come back down to Earth a bit and he could be really good moving forward.

The opportunity price to acquire him in the offseason might be worth it when you consider his age and the relatively modest contract commitment (maybe 2 or 3 year deal?) you'd have to make so if the price is right you consider it.

Outside of Trout.  At some point you have to wonder, why do players do better before and after the Angels than when they play for the Angels.

Some do, some don't

just like any other organization
