Chargers look to be moving to LA in 2017 - play in ANA?

Everything I read said the Chargers were considering playing in the rather cozy Stubhub center for the two seasons rather than being the 3rd team in the Colosseum.

So they don't want to be the 3rd team in the Coloseum, but will want to forever be the second team in Inglewood.  Makes sense.  And I really mean it, it really must make sense for Spanos.

Well, rugby players ARE susceptible to CTE. Whether it is as high as football players isnt known. A sport like rugby just doesnt represent the amount of dollars that would generate a thorough study, the way football does.

I used to watch football religiously on weekends, even did game films for a local high school and college. Now I watch a couple bowl games and maybe the Super Bowl.

I've completely lost my appetite for the NFL and the NBA (for different reasons (mostly due to a lack of fundamental skills by so many players and the amount of fouls). The NBA is another sport with declining attendance and ratings. Looking back on the 50+ years since I started watching the NBA, the Golden Era to me was the 80s and those great battles between the Celtics and Lakers, Magic and Bird, McHale and Worthy, Kareem and The Chief.

Chargers, Rams, Raiders, Clippers, Lakers..............who cares??? Give me baseball. It's always been my favorite sport. Love the traditions and all the stats. For the most part, I'm in favor of the changes. I really dont care about the length of the game;  it's fine. But the two changes I would make would be to bring the DH to the NL and force a relief pitcher to pitch to TWO batters minimum. I like the idea of a manager maybe not getting the perfect matchup every time. The sport needs more runs and a means to limit the dominance of relief specialists.

D5, Rams were dead to me when they moves and i will never get back on that bandwagon.

They missed you incredibly while celebrating their super bowl victory without you.

Serious tears in the locker room or was it he champagne in their eyes?

i live in san diego. spanos is a tool. that organization is nepotism at it's worst. i dislike both san diego teams because they're just, nothing. no history, no championships, no process.

the LA thing is funny to me because the chargers intended to leave last year, but had no idea how to garner the votes from the other owners.

the chargers are the clippers of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.

All sarcasm aside im sure they didnt miss any of the former fans at all... which is precisely why they wont get me back.  They robbed us of the chance to celebrate that with them.
I speak for noone but myself but i wont be going back on that bandwagon.

Build 2 new stadiums in the Angel Stadium parking lot and tear down Angel Stadium when its all complete. With the new Chinese devs setting up that area in the corner it could really be a thriving area with hockey, baseball, and football. The Chargers in Anaheim would fit right in with the Ducks and Angels in the disappointment department.

Qualcomm Stadium? lol I think my parents took me to a Padres game there with my cousins in 1990. Every time I drive by that place and see it I can't believe it's still standing and has a professional NFL team play there. It's gotta be a hoot, San Diego folk still love their football team. I should actually go to a Chargers game some time soon just to see what it's like, before it's gone. I don't think I'd even care about the game, I'd be enamored walking around the stadium.

That being said, I am somewhat intrigued by a new baseball and football stadium right next to each other in the surrounding Angel parking lots. Based on the google map distances, it looks quite doable. I want nothing to do with the Rams or Raiders, but if the Chargers were perhaps thinking of moving, that could be a miraculous corner of the 5 and 57. It could be alive every month of the year, if you include NHL just a stones throw away. And with a kind of Irvine Spectrum vibe between the two, they might be able to pull it off.

Then in my dreams both teams would forget about the Los Angeles name, and move on to be the Orange County, California, or perhaps best option ever Anaheim Angels and Anaheim Chargers, with the Anaheim Ducks just a walk away.

Talk about a possible frickin' 3 team Orange County dynasty within a 1/2 mile of eachother. Put that place on the map!

Angel Stadium does host the CIF Playoffs every year. Football would still work, I don't want that though. And speaking of minor upgrades, a few days ago the Angels Instagram posted a picture of workers installing LED lights.

Those LED lights are cool. They're instant on/off so they can do flashing effects. Safeco has them.

Clearly used epic photoshop skills for this one but either way it gets the point across. This is EASILY doable. The Chinese Development area or as I call it, "Adam's Disneyland" is in the red box down on the corner of State College and Orangewood. Right next to it along State College and the Gene Autry entrance you build a giant parking structure to house the plaza and stadium traffic. Build the new baseball stadium on the north side of the parking lot in the corner area by the Grove and the old Amtrak station. I used Levi Stadium as a reference since a lot of renderings for LA's stadium looked like it in the early going. Slot that in diagonally in the southeastern part of the parking lot. Connect the two stadiums where old Angel Stadium used to be with a giant fan experience area with a beer garden, play area for kids, etc. Similar to how Petco Park has theirs set up but even bigger. If Arte and Spanos teamed up they could really do something special here.

the chargers only have 3 options that are nfl approved.

1. stay in qualcomm

2. build a new stadium in san diego

3. move into kroenke's stadium as a tennant.

there are no other deals to be made, that's it. the chargers are not moving into anaheim.

While I believe that the Chargers need a new stadium.  I wonder why they can't build a new stadium where Qualcomm is right now.  If I remember right (I've only been to one baseball game there is 2000), they are on a huge track of land.  And again, going on memory, they had a train station already there.

The reason why i might be fuzzy about the math there is they had tailgating anywhere in the parking lot, with port o potties all over the place.

This is almost precisely what I was envisioning when I posted above.

Although I don't know, could you expect 50,000+ fans to show up to the game like the majority of NFL Stadiums? I'm not sure people in Southern California care that much about going to an NFL game. I grew up 10 minutes away from that location without going to a football game, and I don't feel like I missed out on anything.
