Im not a sosh fan, but i dont think hes "the problem". The FO has created a mess. Look at the dodgers, who have spent like crazy and built a super team...but still havent built a bullpen. Thats like us, without the super team.

I dont think replacing sosh fixes that. I think he brings a lot of good, and is smarter than people think. I also think he rubs some people the wrong way and plays favorites. So i can live with him staying or going.

I think Maddon is great and hated seeing him leave the organization. Hope to see him back one day.

 

And while he does do things that drive me nuts, it will be a sad day when Sosh leaves. Yeah it will  be nice for a change of some sort but the guy will have been here for close to two decades when his contract is up and has helped provide a lot of stability to an organization that always seemed to lack it.

Maddon went 8-14 as interim mgr in 1996 (replacing McNamara, who replaced Lachemann), and 19-10 as interim in 1999 (replacing Terry Collins.)

I recall the Angels interviewed Maddon, Jim Lefebre, Chris Chambliss,  Phil Garner,  and Rick Down before settling on Scioscia.

Bill Stoneman was the first GM in the Angels history to record a World Series Trophy. His teams also went to the playoffs 5 more times during his tenure. He hired Mike Scioscia.
