This also impacts the ability to trade starters. This team will need every able bodied pitcher it can get for next year. Might as well keep them all and hope for better health next year. Also increases the likelihood that they work something out with Weaver.

I know we changed pitching coaches this year and It may not have anything to do with all the pitching injuries but you have to wonder is there something he is doing different with the pitching staff? I have never seen this many injuries to a pitching staff in one season.

I think it is random chance. Before the Skaggs/Richards/Heaney/Tropeano spate we went a very long time without major starting pitcher injuries. There was the Kelvim Escobar one and Ervin Santana had a UCL issue but never needed TJ. Besides those, it had been a really long time. The law of averages said we were due ... although it's pretty harsh luck to cop so many so quickly.

There was an article posted at the beginning of the year listing all the starting pitchers and their risk of TJ. I wish I could find that to see what the odds were on our three.
