Connor Riley is interesting.  From South Carolina - Aiken and signed for 10k.  Had a crazy amount of k's in college.  Something like 130 in 90 innings this year.

Relief prospects are obviously a dime a dozen and extremely volatile, but the Angels drafted a ton of college arms this recent draft who can slot into the relief prospect ranks quickly. Riley definitely is one of them. Quite pleased with the amount of relief depth we have in the minors actually. A lot of them are probably more in the late '18 or '19 wave, but certainly enough to work with.

I don't put much stock in relief prospects. Watching Kohn, Morin, Carpenter, Alvarez etc.. all flame out, I just have doubts as to whether a reliver's repertoire transfers to the majors unless they're like Bedrosian or Middleton, obvious ones that are pumping 95+ with a good breaking ball.

Eppler has shown this year how failed starters make for great relievers. I just wish he'd held onto Kirby Yates. He and Blake Parker would've been killer.

I think at this point, off the top of my head, the only reliever that belongs in our top 30 that I'm halfway confident in his success is  Eduardo Paredes. The rest I won't bother ranking. Maybe they deserve their own little side list.

Marsh, Jones, and Thaiss each had 3 hit games. Marsh homered again and walked. His OPS at Orem is 1.351.

Also, while we kind of give Taylor Ward crap, he's got a .412 OBP at AA. Small sample size but the dude knows how to take a walk.

It's too bad that his power can't translate into games.

some nice offensive performances today

22yo undrafted kid out of North Dakota State by the name of Luke Lind struck out 5 in 2.1ip.  Giving him 21k in 12.2ip for the season and only 3 er (all came in one outing).  If anyone has any info on him, I'd be curious.  He's 6'6" 225.  Only thing I could find was that Fangraphs puts together something called KATOH which is a projection system and they ranked the top 250 draft eligible college players.  Luke Lind ranked 76th.

As an aside, Griffin Canning ranked 2nd on the list (Brendan McKay was 1st - 4th pick overall).  Devon Perez 14th (21-625 DNS), Tyler Stevens 44th (18-535),  Jonah Todd was 50th (6-175).  Mitchel Traver 179th (20-595), Brady Feigl 215th (35-1045 DNS),

That makes 7 of our D1 college draftees on the list.

Jonathan Luman, the halos director of quantitative analysis has written for fangraphs and hardball times in the past.  Makes me think he created a proprietary ranking system for the draft.
