Los Angeles Rams thread

He has to rely on Kupp, most of the other receivers can't seem to get open or catch a football.

I am surprised at how intuitive Goff is about knowing when the pocket is collapsing or sensing a blindside and stepping out of trouble. Yesterday he had to utilize that way too much, the Vikings defense shut down the running game which forced passing downs that gave them a rushing advantage. Gurley wasn't even a factor coming out if the backfield for a screen or short pass.

Vikings may have outlined how to play against the Rams offense, now it's the Rams job to not get caught in that trap again and come up with some plays to offset that defense scheme.

The prevent defense cost them a touchdown when they had control of the Saints most of the 2nd half. This is always full retard on the coaches part to stray from what was working and play differently than what put you in place to win. Luckily they kept control on the on-side kick.

Another dissapointment was playing too conservative on their last drive, march all the way down field, only to play the last three downs for the field goal instead of a touchdown. The 3 pointer was always there so why waste three plays on a failed running game that the Saints had effectively shut down all game. Go for the TD, stomp on their necks with it and then the last Saints drive is meaningless.

They need to kill not just the clock, which they did well but also kill all hope the Saints had for a comeback. I'd like to see that in the next few games and not play afraid to lose.

Prevent defense prevents victories.

Otherwise, it was a solid defensive performance against a good offense.   Kamara did the only real damage for NO.

Strong game for Goff and decent game for Gurley

Zuerlein missed only his 2nd kick all season (32-34 FGs, 33-33 XPTs), and is on pace for nearly 190 pts. (Would be an NFL record.)

Beat Arizona, and set up three straight showdown games with Philly, Seattle, and improved Tenn.

Yes, the conservative approach will not work against Philly.

I was listening to ESPN radio and don't remember who it was who said, "Carson Wentz opens up a can of kick-ass every time he touches the ball." That says it right there. The Eagles just pound the opposition. The way they rolled over Chicago...total domination.

They took a shot to the end zone on third down before settling for the field goal attempt

He was like that at Cal, and I think it was born out of necessity. The OLs that he played behind were not great, to say the least.

By the time he was in his 3rd year at Cal, it was like he had eyes on the outside of his helmet.

What you're seeing from him now is EXACTLY what he did at Cal. He made watching 2013-16 games fun.

Injuries are starting to pile up.

Woods, Barwin, and now Ogletree

Good trap game win today on the road, Eggles loom next Sunday.

Speaking of which, what happened to the Eggles today?

Seahawks starting to assert themselves again?   Eggles starting to come back to the pack?   Some of both?

when the chiefs beat them in week 2 it was a lot of pressure on wentz and hunt was running the ball well....all things Seattle did last night.

It's critical then for Gurley to have a strong game, and for the front seven to pressure Wentz like they have most other teams this season.

Biggest game of the season is of course in 13 days.

Zuerlein has still only missed two FG's all season (36-38, one miss from 63 yds), and finally missed his first XPT yesterday (35-36 so far).   He's on pace to finish with about 190 pts (new NFL scoring record).

Fifty years ago today, I along with my dad, his neighbor the previous year+ and his son, all were on a rented boat that went out to watch the Queen Mary come in to LB port.   That was awesome, even as an 11 year-old, to see.

And later that same day, Rams vs defending NFL champs the Packers on the radio, Rams block the punt with 45 sec left and return it to the 5 yard line.   Gabriel hits Casey for the winner, and Enberg yells “The Rams are jumping up and down like 13 year-olds”.   Rams then clobber the Colts, 34-10, the next week to win their first divisional title in 12 years.
