Ugly day for Fowler.

 

+6 in his last four holes.

Gonna have to play his ass off just to make the cut tomorrow.

 

Not as bad as Ernie who 7 putted #1..from a few feet.

I haven't watched it yet, too early to ruin my day. I'm sure that would make my stomach upset.

I afraid it would effect my mental state for weeks watching something so horrific.

Rose is doing well. He really loves this course, so he is my sleeper and one of my fantasy starters.

He's playing solid golf and is -4, along with Day.

towards the end of his career nicklaus made a 10 on a hole. after his round a reporter asked him how he made a 10. "Missed a 3-footer for 9." 

 

if you play golf, you have to be able to laugh at yourself.

At Rancho Park in LA ...

On the tee box of hole number eighteen we have a plaque that reminds golfers of the ups and downs of the game. No matter how bad your round is going you can always finish better then the 1961 PGA Golfer of the Year, Arnold Palmer.

It reads:

The first day of the 35th L.A. Open Arnold Palmer, voted Golfer of the Year, took a 12 on this hole. As an inspiration to all golfers the L.A. Jr. Chamber of Commerce dedicated this monument.

Palmer hit a fine drive. He sliced his next 2 shots into the driving range, then hooked two more onto Patricia Ave. Hit the green with his sixth shot and two putted. Eight strokes plus four penalties add up to 12.

Was the break by the hole THAT drastic?

All the greens at Augusta are tough...but his putt was fairly straight.

He just had one of those holes..

I've watched it now, and it's hard to watch.

Day goes from a 5 under front nine, to +5 on the back.

Sergio has birdied 4 straight on the back.

He was way too casual on several of the attempts. Got to take your time when you're out there.

The Els shit was brutal, almost anyone can stand over it and push it in. It was actually weird to watch. I've seen where people try to drag or tap it in and it doesn't drop.

 

The main surprise was Day dropping 5 on the last 4 holes.

 

You have to wonder if Spieth is going to crush like last year.

Day was stretching his back, definitely looks injured.  Dude seems to suffer from a lot of injuries.  The way he swings I guess it isn't surprising.
