Shoes in the house

Do you do it or are you a barefoot/socks/house slippers person?

shoes come off as soon as i walk in. i have a really nice pair of ugg slippers and those are on my feet the rest of the day. love these slippers. i'm on my third pair.

Working in a room that is 65 degrees in the winter with wood floors, these are a must.

This is me, however I hate heaters so we rarely heat the house. So I'll wear socks if I get to cold but I don't wear socks to bed, that's just weird.

I used to be a shoes off guy, but had a few roomates for a while so my clean freak side went away

shoes now because my place has been under remodel - the workers are good about cleaning but don't want to step on an errant nail.

but soon it will be no shoes once you get to the top of the stairs.

we are both ugg slippers yuppies. they are the best.

I have an entry room on the bottom floor with a bench that has a shelf for shoes in it. Shoes go there and never leave that room.

There are no shoes on or off rules in my house. I prefer flip flops myself, but I always seem to be working around the place in boots.

My Daughter's place in Phoenix has a strict no shoes in the house punsihable by death decree.

No shoes in our house. If you have to go outside to take the trash out or something like that.... We have "garage shoes" that are easy to slip on and off.

I take it you people don't own vaccuums, mops or brooms.

Do all of these people, who have been sitting in strange chairs/benches/seats/stools, etc. all day, have to take their pants off and sit on plastic-covered furniture, too?

are they allowed to sit on the toilet or must they hover? I guess sharing a seat with everyone else's swamp ass is better than a little dirt ending up on your floors.

Nothing like following your child around the house with a mop and a broom to keep the wood clean.

 

Shoes go off at the door.  We don't tell visitors they have to unless they are kids.

But yeah, if I roll barefoot or with socks I may bring some goodies to my bed from the bottom of my feet -- and we sweep the house once a day.

We have wood floors downstairs so shoes are ok. We usually take them off before we walk upstairs onto the carpet though.

Does anyone here have a Roomba? I'm thinking about picking one up.

i know there are hardwood versions and marble/tile versions.

I have the hardwood version.  It does an ok job.  If you have pets that shed then it wont last through the day.  I know there are pet versions now so maybe they are better.  I had a Yellow Lab/Goldie mix that shed like crazy, the roomba did great as long as I cleaned it out twice a day.

 

Other than that they do get stuck on furniture sometimes.  It definitely doesn't replace sweeping/vacuuming but it does a nice job of ridding the floors of a lot of dirt/dust.

 

They also will definitely vacuum up little chachkis that your kid leaves on the floor.  Which IMO is great because it teaches them a lesson, without making you feel guilty for doing it.  The robot did it!
