Yeah, I was looking at those and they were egregious for an umpire that was pretty consistent with the starting pitching. It looked like Price got a few free calls as well but they were boarderline not well out of the zone. Ventura got help with one pitch out of the zone.

Well let me spell it out since you have been an idiot all day. Batista can twirl the bat up his ass all night but he will never see the plate if with two outs Donaldson can't get a hit. So he is protecting nothing, Donaldson has to get on base which is actually more pressure on him to do something with a 96 mph heater.

For some reason, he was calling the up and away to lefties.  Other than that, he called a tight strike zone all night.

Kansas City and the Mets are probably proof positive that a managers don't necessarily make a team, their contribution is overrated.  We need the correct player formula first, in my opinion.  Changing a manager can help at times, but it's not on the critical path to success.

The one downside for the Royals going into the WS is Madson's terrible work in the post-season (8.00+ ERA and 2.00+ WHIP).

Hochevar, Herrera, and Davis can't hold down the late innings all by themselves, if it goes to 6 or 7 games.

The Royals though have a chance to really test the defensively mediocre Flores and Murphy up the middle, by putting the ball into play a lot.
