What needs to happen now

At this point, we probably have to win out to have a chance at the playoffs. Nobody expects Arizona to beat up on Houston.

Murphy has to be in there, all four games. No more Victorino.

Giavotella has to play the WHOLE DAMN GAME. No more Featherbat replacing him in the 7th inning for his 'defense'.

No screwing up on the base paths.

No more sloppy defense.

This is it. Lose another game and it's probably over.

Scioscia is not going to change

Johnny G and Freese will be replaced late

Outs will be made on the bases, including outs at home

Contact play will happen

Victorino will start against lefties despite Murphy's success and clutchness because "vet presence" and he helped win a world series for a couple of other teams

Two out runs will be given up

2 out runs will not be driven in

I'm guessing 2-2 because Weaver is pitching on the road and Santiago is, well, Santiago. Hope it's enough

If we win two of four at Texas, then we need Houston to win only one at Arizona.  We both then would have 75 wins and would tie for the second wildcard.  Houston will not have the DH for their games at Arizona which should hurt them.  Depending on when Texas clinches, then they might rest some players making it easier to win on Saturday and/or Sunday.  It is likely that Hamels will be held out of the Sunday game and we will probably have to use up Richards rather than saving him for the WC tiebreaker or the play in game.  We are still very much in this.  With Houston going with McHugh, Keuchel and McCullers at Arizona,  they are not going to have much pitching left for a tiebreaker.  Go Angels.

Chris Carter is on one of his home run binges. I'll be contrarian to many here and predict that Houston has an easy time this weekend.

My feeling is we need to win out. Scioscia needs to put the BEST lineup out there, screw the stupid lefty/righty crap, and turn his players loose. Just stay out of the way!

this team has had so many chances this year.  Every time they've had an opportunity to take control of the situation, they crap the bed and have to start all over.  Then they miraculously claw, fight and scratch their way back only to piss it away.

Well, they control their own destiny.

My prediction?

We win the first three games of the Texas series and all three teams go into the last day all square.  It will come down to the last day.  You know what's gonna happen.

If it makes anyone feel any better, the Dbacks have some bulletin board material with Keuchel being quoted as saying they hope to go into the pool at Chase field. The sports talk guys here in AZ didn't take too kindly to that, because of what happened last year with the Dogs.

You guys really think the Angels can sweep the Rangers in Texas? That's hard to imagine.

But yeah, it is quite simple. In order for the Angels to face-off with the Astros in a one-gamer, this needs to happen...

If the Astros sweep the Diamondbacks, the Angels need to sweep the Rangers

If the Astros go 2-1, the Angels need to go 3-1 to tie, 4-0 to win out

If the Astros go 1-2, the Angels tie with 2-2 and win out with 3-1

If the Astros go 0-3, the Angels tied with 1-3 and win out with 2-2

The odds are clearly stacked against the Angels. Last night's loss was huge.
