Again, she didn’t mean anything bad by it, and the people acting like this was some sort of overt attack are way overboard here. It’s a misunderstanding at worst.

The real question is then, why the uproar?  If it was clear her intention wasn't to be anti-Semitic, why was she suspended? Why is she getting flak from many in the Jewish community?

I think her intention was to separate the holocaust from the struggle of the black community. When she went on Colbert later that night she went into more detail about it. The people running Hollywood aren't going to put up with any minimization of the holocaust period. It's almost as bad as bowling on shabbos.
